How to use

  • Add a row per part (PCBA, enclosure, battery, cables, packaging…).
  • Qty is units per finished assembly — not per run.
  • Use FOB factory pricing if comparing across suppliers.

Sanity checks

  • Top driver should account for <50% of total — if higher, focus there.
  • Hidden costs: freight, duty, packaging, retail margin.
  • Target: BOM ≤ 25–33% of final retail price.
  • Markup is applied as price = cost × (1 + markup%). For a gross-margin target of X%, set markup ≈ X / (100 − X) (e.g. 33% margin ≈ 50% markup).
